Neighborhood Description
The rolling hills and once past use as farmland still pervades in the spirit of Cleveland Park neighborhood. Designated in 1987 in the National Register of Historic Places, a quiet stoll down its tree-lined streets will prove to be an eye-opening experience for all travelers. Once designated as a street-car suburb of DC, this neighborhood has retained its quiet and quaint neighborhood feel. A combination of different archirtectual styles, such as Queen-Anne, Mission Style, and Classic Revival, help create the sense of distinction in this community.
The area garnered its name in 1885 when President Grover Cleveland bought property for his White House summer home. The Washington National Cathedral is the southwest anchor of the neighborhood and is a cultural destination for all people of the region.
