Neighborhood Description
These two separate northwest DC neighborhoods both bring a certain flair and energy to the city. Adams Morgan is home to nearly every international cuisine that is desired. These authentic restaurants, combined with bars, funky shops, and live music create a lively atmosphere that is unparalleled in the city. Although once regarded as a pristine, upper-class area, post WWII saw a rejuvenation of young people and immigrants to the area. It holds the 2nd largest population of Salvadorans in the entire US.
Woodley Park has more elegance in its design which is due to the early 20th century format of attempting to create a row of elegant large homes along the Connecticut Avenue corridor. Now Connecticut Avenue is lined with high-rise apartment buildings and commercial office space; nevertheless, Woodley Park west of Connecticut Avenue still retains beauty and splendor and speaks of similarity with Cleveland Park's tree-lined streets. The National Zoo is always a favorite to those in the area.
