Bars in Hyattsville

Those who live in Hyattsville tend to develop an affinity for a specific watering hole that becomes their go-to location. New residents will have the chance to decide on their own favorite bar or restaurant, but, fortunately, there are some excellent options.

Old Dominion BrewHouse

6504 America Blvd #105, Hyattsville, MD 20782
301-887-1818

The food is one reason for the popularity of Old Dominion BrewHouse, as they serve wings, burgers, pasta, appetizers, soups, salads, steak, chicken, and seafood. They also have a full sushi menu, which you might not expect to find at a bar. Drinks are constantly flowing at Old Dominion BrewHouse, and it’s an excellent place to catch the game because multiple TVs contribute to the sports pub atmosphere.

Trinity Grill & Bar

3010 Hamilton St, Hyattsville, MD 20782
240-770-6611

Hyattsville’s Queens Chapel Manor neighborhood is home to Trinity Grill & Bar, a local gathering spot open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily. The menu features pub-style favorites like wings, burgers, and sandwiches, but you can also grab salmon, steak, ribs, chicken, and pasta dishes. There’s a kid’s menu at Trinity Grill & Bar, making it easy to bring your little ones along for the evening as well. The bar’s drink menu has everything you’d expect, and there are happy hour specials multiple times per week.

Carolina Kitchen Bar & Grill

6501 America Blvd, Hyattsville, MD 20782

Miller’s Ale House

3430 East-West Hwy, Hyattsville, MD 20782
240-898-4052

Don’t be scared away by the fact that Miller’s Ale House is a large chain because the Hyattsville location offers a great experience if you’re looking for a sports pub. There are over 75 beers on tap at this pub, including rare foreign and craft brews, and their signature cocktails ensure that every guest can find something they like. The pub is also loaded with TVs, making it the perfect place to catch a game. You’ll find traditional bar favorites like wings and burgers, along with items a foodie can appreciate like filet mignon and rib-eye steaks.

Burtons Grill & Bar of Riverdale Park

4440 Van Buren St, Riverdale, MD 20737
240-825-3988

Burtons Grill & Bar of Riverdale Park sits in the neighboring community of Riverdale, but it’s worth mentioning because it’s just off Baltimore Avenue, which runs through downtown Hyattsville. Burtons is a small chain with a few locations in Massachusetts and Virginia and one in Maryland. It has a trendy atmosphere and a unique menu featuring lobster pasta, crab cakes, hamburgers, fish tacos, soups, salads, and appetizers. It’s a little different from your typical pub, which is probably one reason for its popularity.

Each bar in Hyattsville has elements that help it stand out from the rest. Check out these locations and decide how you wish to spend your night on the town in this small city.

Hyattsville Brewpubs

Hyattsville has an emerging brewpub scene that’s worth checking if you’re into trying new beers. These venues are quickly becoming some of the city’s most popular locations to begin a night out.

Franklins

5123 Baltimore Ave, Hyattsville, MD 20781
301-927-2740

Franklins is somewhat unique for a brewpub because it has a diverse menu that most guests appreciate. The pizzas are one of the main selling points, but they also have burgers, sandwiches, seafood, and pasta, to name a few. This local staple has been around since 2002, and they usually have close to 20 different brews available at any given time, making Franklins Brewery a fun place to spend a few hours.

Streetcar 82 Brewing Company

4824 Rhode Island Ave, Hyattsville, MD 20781
240-782-0152

Streetcar 82 Brewing Company doesn’t have a menu like Franklins, but it offers a festival atmosphere and an ample outdoor space that frequently hosts gatherings in the summer. This brewpub is more like a counter-service venue where you’ll walk up to the bar, grab a drink, and then find somewhere to sit or stand. You can sit at the bar and have a couple of pints, space permitting, or take it outside, where there might be some party games or music.

Denizens Brewing Company

4550 Van Buren St, Riverdale Park, MD 20737
240-582-6817

Denizens Brewing Company is a bright, trendy space with a small patio and an extensive beer list. You can also get a cocktail or hard seltzer at this brewpub, and their food menu includes burgers, chicken strips, fish tacos, salads, and sandwiches. Locals love Denizens Brewing Company because they have staples on their beer list that never change and a rotating list of seasonal brews. This setup provides the best of both worlds and makes Denizens one of the area’s best places to grab a beer.

These brewpubs provide a different experience for craft beer lovers in Hyattsville and give you even more options when choosing the perfect place to visit for a drink. Hyattsville residents can always find a good time and a cold drink when they head to a local bar in this small city.

Understanding the Ledger

Your portal includes a ledger with all transactions. The ledger is populated with data in real-time as transactions flow through our accounting software. Much of this information is also available in the Reports area, as well as the Statements in your Documents library, but the ledger is the most comprehensive resource for diving into the details.

Please scroll through the sections below to get a better understanding of how to interpret the ledger.

By default, transactions are sorted chronologically:

Owner Ledger Dates
  • The date reflected in the lefthand column is the actual transaction date, not the “bill date”. This is the date the transaction was actually processed.

If you have multiple properties with Nomadic, you'll see the address for each transaction in the "Location" column:

Ledger Property Column
  • You can filter the ledger to look at just one property, all properties, or specific sets of properties.
  • If you only have one property with us, you’ll just see the ledger for that property.

The Description column displays the transaction type:

Owner Ledger Description Column
  • BILL: this is an expense transaction, such as for repair costs or management fees.
  • CHARGE: this is a transaction  billed to the tenant, most typically a rent payment.
  • NACHA EXPORT: this is a credit we processed to your distribution account. This type of transaction is how you get paid!

The Amount column shows the dollar value of each transaction:

Owner Ledger Amount Column
  • Positive Amounts: if an amount is positive, it reflects a transaction that is payable to you. Typically, this will be a rent payment that we collected from your tenants. On occasion, a positive number could also signify a journal entry or credit adjustment.
  • Negative Amounts:  if an amount is negative, this is a transaction that is either payable to Nomadic or is an amount that has already been paid to you. Typically this will be for repair costs or management/leasing fees. Owner draws (net distributions into your checking/savings account) also reflect as negative amounts, since they have already been paid to you.

The Account Balance column shows a sum of positive/negative transactions at a given point in time:

Owner Ledger Account Balance Column
  • Account Balance should always equal zero after a net distribution has been processed. When the balance is zero, this means that all expenses have been paid and you’ve received the remainder as net operating income, leaving a balance of zero (meaning: no one is due any money, as all funds have been distributed appropriately).

How do net distributions work?

Net distributions keep your accounting clean and simple. Each month we’ll collect rent from the tenants, deduct any repair expenses for the previous month and any management/leasing fees for the current month, and credit the remaining net operating income to your account.

Net Distribution

You’ll receive a statement via email each time a net distribution is processed, and can view all transaction details in your Propertyware owner portal.
