1. Get Cooking at Open Kitchen

If you love the idea of cooking dinner with your partner but don’t want to deal with the mess in your own home, Open Kitchen is the perfect date night destination.

At Open Kitchen you and your partner can share more than dinner. You can share the experience of crafting that dinner together under the guidance of a world-class chef.

When you sign up for an Open Kitchen event, you and your partner share the unique experience of learning to cook a full meal and enjoying it together. Each event features a specific style of cuisine. So, if you’ve always wanted to cook an Asian dish but didn’t know if you could pull it off, Open Kitchen provides the perfect opportunity to experiment.

You and your partner will have a great time working together to create your own culinary masterpiece. And you’ll get to enjoy the delicious meal you made with your own hands together!

Open Kitchen is the perfect date night for any adventurous couple that’s tired of just going out to eat.

2. Breakout of an Escape Rome

For the couple that loves adventure and games, an escape room is an awesome new experience for date night. Breakout DC has six different themed rooms for you and your partner to solve. Each room has a unique storyline with puzzles to solve and clues you need to find in order to “solve” the room.

You and your partner will be given the scenario of the room and then you’ll be “locked in” for a specific amount of time, usually an hour. During that hour you’ll have to work together to gather all the clues, solve all the puzzles, and figure out how to “break out” of the room.

Doing an escape room together is a great way to exercise the communication and problem-solving skills that are so essential to a good relationship. You’ll really have to rely on each other and leverage each other’s skills to succeed.

Escape rooms are a great date night plan for couples who are tired of traditional date nights and want to try something new and fun.

3. Get Artistic at Muse Paintbar

cooking class

You and your partner don’t need to be artists to enjoy a date night at Muse Paintbar. In fact, you don’t need any experience with painting! At this Paint and Sip studio, a professional will walk you through the process of creating a high-quality painting that you can be proud to show off.

You’ll be provided with all the supplies you need, including a glass of your favorite libation to spark the inner muse. You and your partner can sit side by side, painting and imbibing, creating something beautiful together. It’s a truly romantic experience, and you’ll have something to take home from your night out.

If you’re not artistic types, you’ll have fun pushing your limits, trying something new together, and creating something you never would have created on your own. If you and your partner are artistic types, you can have fun interpreting the painting on your own. You can create individual masterpieces that show off your unique personalities.

Check out their website to see which paintings are being created at each event. Choose one that you love and reserve seats for you and your plus one. A Paint and Sip event at Muse Paintbar is the perfect date night idea for couples who love their drinks and who love to create things together.

4. Take in a Show at the State Theater

Usually, dinner and a show mean dinner and a movie, but if you plan a date night at the State Theater dinner and a show can be an actual show.

The State Theater has a great lineup of live shows and parties for you and your partner to enjoy. Depending on when you choose to go, your night could include live music or a DJ and dancing or even a comedy show.

There’s nothing better than sharing a unique experience like a live show with a partner. The unforgettable date night experience lives on long after the date night is over as you recall what a wonderful time you had taking in a show.

Check out their events page to see what’s coming up!

5. Get Dolled Up for Dinner at TRIO Grill

Couple dressed up nice for dinner

Most couples don’t have many opportunities to get dressed up and go out on the town. Even their date nights are business casual at best, usually just what they wore to work that day.

But if you and your partner make a reservation at TRIO Grill, you’ll definitely need to pick out your best outfit and accessories. Dinner at TRIO is the excuse you and your partner need to get all dressed up for each other.

TRIO is more than a dinner date – it’s a high-class experience. They offer the finest steak and seafood menu in Northern Virginia. They also have an extensive wine and specialty cocktail menu and the state’s only cigar lounge. The restaurant has many unique, cozy seating options that allow you and your partner to get close and have some privacy for intimate conversations.

If you’re looking for the classiest, most romantic dinner and drinks option possible, reserve a table at TRIO today. And don’t dawdle because their reservation list fills up fast.

Couple out getting drinks

If you and your partner are discerning about your drinks, then a date night at Dominion Beer & Wine is certain to please.

Dominion has an extensive selection of craft beers on tap. Any craft beer junkie will be impressed with the selection. And their wine list is just as extensive. Any wine drinker with a good nose and refined taste will find something for their palate at Dominion.

Dominion’s atmosphere matches its drink selection – impressive and refined. You can sit at the gorgeous bar and get swept up by the hustle and bustle of other patrons. Or you can hide at a table tucked away by the fireplace, whispering sweet nothings.

Understanding the Ledger

Your portal includes a ledger with all transactions. The ledger is populated with data in real-time as transactions flow through our accounting software. Much of this information is also available in the Reports area, as well as the Statements in your Documents library, but the ledger is the most comprehensive resource for diving into the details.

Please scroll through the sections below to get a better understanding of how to interpret the ledger.

By default, transactions are sorted chronologically:

Owner Ledger Dates
  • The date reflected in the lefthand column is the actual transaction date, not the “bill date”. This is the date the transaction was actually processed.

If you have multiple properties with Nomadic, you'll see the address for each transaction in the "Location" column:

Ledger Property Column
  • You can filter the ledger to look at just one property, all properties, or specific sets of properties.
  • If you only have one property with us, you’ll just see the ledger for that property.

The Description column displays the transaction type:

Owner Ledger Description Column
  • BILL: this is an expense transaction, such as for repair costs or management fees.
  • CHARGE: this is a transaction  billed to the tenant, most typically a rent payment.
  • NACHA EXPORT: this is a credit we processed to your distribution account. This type of transaction is how you get paid!

The Amount column shows the dollar value of each transaction:

Owner Ledger Amount Column
  • Positive Amounts: if an amount is positive, it reflects a transaction that is payable to you. Typically, this will be a rent payment that we collected from your tenants. On occasion, a positive number could also signify a journal entry or credit adjustment.
  • Negative Amounts:  if an amount is negative, this is a transaction that is either payable to Nomadic or is an amount that has already been paid to you. Typically this will be for repair costs or management/leasing fees. Owner draws (net distributions into your checking/savings account) also reflect as negative amounts, since they have already been paid to you.

The Account Balance column shows a sum of positive/negative transactions at a given point in time:

Owner Ledger Account Balance Column
  • Account Balance should always equal zero after a net distribution has been processed. When the balance is zero, this means that all expenses have been paid and you’ve received the remainder as net operating income, leaving a balance of zero (meaning: no one is due any money, as all funds have been distributed appropriately).

How do net distributions work?

Net distributions keep your accounting clean and simple. Each month we’ll collect rent from the tenants, deduct any repair expenses for the previous month and any management/leasing fees for the current month, and credit the remaining net operating income to your account.

Net Distribution

You’ll receive a statement via email each time a net distribution is processed, and can view all transaction details in your Propertyware owner portal.
